Wow, it's been almost 2 years since my last post. It's been pretty busy for me lately but I'm still very involved with Salesforce and excited to share a project I've been working on for a while now (drumroll) :
What is almond?
Almond is a Learning Management Application built on top of Salesforce1. The goal of this app is to create engaging learning experiences for your employees and reward them as they make progress through their learning activities. Learners can take quizzes, complete tasks and launch learning resources from a desktop or mobile device as well as provide feedback on the learning content.
Here's a quick overview of the app:
Why is it called almond?
It all started with the idea of creating Learning Management ON Demand (LMOND) system and ended up adding an A in there because I think it's awesome, plus, almonds are tasty.
How can I use it?
The app can be used in different scenarios, here are some examples:
How much does it cost?
Nada. It's FREE!
Where can I get it?
It's live on the Appexchange:
Un-Managed Package : You can modify or extend the app code but upgrading the package requires you to be familiar with handling Force.com metadata and using the the ant migration tool.
How can I extend it?
Almond allows you to plug-in custom visualforce pages in case you want to create custom learning experiences (the video above shows how to plug-in a VF page that renders a Google Map).
If this is not enough, you could always get the un-managed package and modify the code. I've also open sourced the project and encourage developers that modify the code base to contribute back to the project in github.
Where do I report any issues?
If you're running into an issue while installing or using the app please check the project's issues page in github. If your issue is not listed there, please create a new issue and I'll take a look as soon as I can.

ReplyDeleteIs there a way to use almond with an ecommerce shopping cart like Ultracart? We are trying to build a paid membership with content dripped behind the paywall.
ReplyDeleteHi Adelaide. You'll need to customize the code to add e-commerce capabilities. You might want to explore using LearnTrac, it's another free app based on almond and they claim to have e-commerce support. It's available in the Appexchange.
